How do i fit a Chorley Oak mantel beam to the wall?Chorley Oak rustic mantel beams have been designed to be as simple as possible to fit with only basic DIY tools. Every beam is supplied with all required fixings and instructions for fitting to a sound masonry wall, it is a simple diy job and should only take 20-30 minutes. Beams are fitted with recessed steel fixings in the rear face and simply need four supplied fixings inserting in your wall at the specified measurements and hanging on, resulting in a simple and extremely safe and secure mounting.

My beam has cracks, is it broken?Put simply: No! It is perfectly normal in large sections of oak like this to see cracks develop, it's a natural part of the drying process, not detrimental to the wood in any way and absolutely characteristic in oak to see large cracks. These are the features that gives oak it's unmistakable charm! Don't worry if new cracks appear after fitting, the oak is simply acclimatising to it's new surroundings, this is oak that's only ever been dried outdoors and bringing it inside our very dry homes can be a shock, it's common for new cracks to appear in the first few weeks and then once internal stresses have been relieved the oak will continue to harden significantly over the coming years.

Are the colours on the website accurate? All product images on site are of actual chorley oak beams, taken under colour corrected studio lights. Even so, please understand that every piece of oak can and will display variation in natural colour and since our finishes are intended to enhance the natural tone of the wood rather than cover it, some variation is to be expected. Our product images are a great representation of the comparison between colour finishes but we do not guarantee that every piece will be an exact match to the images or to any existing furniture in your home.
